Congratulations to Tony Bradley on the launch of his second S.P.E.E.D. Eleven Catamaran.
To be named ‘TRITON 2’, this new vessel will join Tony’s original Catamaran ‘TRITON’, performing range safety and Drone recovery work on MOD ranges around the country.
Triton 2 has a smaller forward Island wheelhouse than our popular Charter spec’ vessels, but there is still ample room for a small galley and seating for 3-4 plus the helm.
Outside there is a Heads compartment recessed into the back of the wheelhouse but otherwise the deck is totally free and clear, measuring 6m by 4.2m at it’s largest point.
At the stern, there is a large removable Transom section which will be left on the quayside during Range duties to facilitate the recovery of the Drones onto the aft deck using a deck mounted crane.
When Triton 2 carries fare paying passengers, the Transom can be reinstated meaning that she can be fully coded by the MCA.
Propulsion is again provided by twin 200Hp Nanni common rail units driving four bladed Hyperform propellers through 2.45:1 Tuff Torq gearboxes and Clements stern gear.
This package will give sprint speeds of 23Kn and cruising of 17-18Kn.
Since her launch earlier than expected on the 21st, we have been running our usual checks prior to the first Sea trial on Friday 23rd.
After this, Tony will be with us next week for his official Sea trial period before vessel hand over.
Triton 2 will be going straight to work after her deck crane has been fitted, and we wish Tony every success with his new vessel.
